Deep purple-black in color. A second wine. Aged in barriques. The aroma is dominated by black currant, blackberry, blueberry, plum, and dark berries, complemented by sweet tobacco, cedar, lavender, mint, mocha, spice cake, graphite, and vanilla, and is youthful, juicy, and approachable, yet with good depth. The palate is fuller than average, with fine-grained tannins and a fresh character. The finish is long, with a spicy and berry-like aftertaste. Pairs well with beef, lamb, duck, game, and grilled meats. We recommend serving it with duck, roasted veal, lamb chops, and beef stew.
